Safety should always be your top priority when it comes to tasks that require licensed tradespeople. As a customer, it's your responsibility to verify that the contractor you engage is appropriately qualified and holds any necessary licenses or certificates to perform your task. To help you with this, Airtasker offers a range of licence badges that show when a Tasker has completed a point in time check of their qualifications. These badges are checked with our verification provider and local authorities. However, it's important to note that these badges are optional, and a Tasker may still be licensed even if they don't have a badge on their profile.
Some things to keep in mind:
- The best way to know if someone is licensed is to sight the licence itself. We recommend always asking to see the license before any work on the house has started. You can ask the Tasker to send you a photo of it after you've assigned them.
- Most industries also have databases where you can search and check someone's licence status. Again, you should always verify that the Tasker is licensed before any work commences.
-
Not sure whether your task needs a licensed tradesperson? Make sure to check with the industry's regulatory body in your country and/or state.
- Make sure the person who turns up to do your task is the same person whose license you have checked! For more tips on how to verify a Tasker's identity, check out our article here.
