Before making an offer, review the task’s requirements, location and date. Use the public comments to clarify anything you need to know so you can offer an accurate price for the task.
How do I make an offer?
- Open the task and select Make an Offer.
- Enter your total offer price.
- Add a description (maximum of 1500 characters) explaining what your offer includes and how you’ll complete the task.
- Follow the prompts to submit your offer.
What should my price include?
Your offer must cover the full scope of the task, including costs such as travel, petrol, tolls and equipment use. Your offer price is not your take-home payment—the Tasker Service Fee is deducted from the task payment.
Certain expenses, such as materials, tip fees and purchases made on the Customer’s behalf, may be reimbursed separately. Agree on these costs with the Customer and keep the receipts. See more information here.
Do not submit a partial price, an hourly or per-unit offer with an unsettled total, or an offer solely to inspect the task and provide a quote later.
See the Payment Community Guidelines for Taskers for details.
Should I make an offer on a task I’ve been recommended for?
A recommendation means a Customer has invited you to make an offer on their task. Review the requirements and, if the task suits your skills and availability, submit an offer.
An invitation does not mean you’ve been assigned the task—the Customer still needs to accept your offer.
Learn more about what being recommended for a task means.
Can I change my offer?
Yes. If your offer hasn’t been accepted and the task is still unassigned:
- Open the task and locate your offer.
- Select Update Offer and enter your revised price.
- Select Continue, then submit your updated offer.
You can also withdraw an unaccepted offer. See How can I change or withdraw my offer?.
If the Customer asks you to revise your price, update the offer before they accept it. Agreeing on a price in the comments does not update the offer amount or assign the task.
If your offer has already been accepted, discuss any changes with the Customer through private messages and use the applicable task-price adjustment process.
Can I negotiate privately with the Customer?
Private messaging becomes available after the task is assigned. This is for everyone’s privacy and security, as outlined in the Community Guidelines. Before then, use the public comments to discuss the task and clarify your offer. Do not share private contact details or external contact links.
Why is my offer or comment being moderated?
Offers and comments must follow the Tasker Community Guidelines. Content may be flagged if it includes:
- Contact details or external contact links before assignment.
- Arrangements to pay for the work outside Airtasker.
- Partial or placeholder prices with further payment to be negotiated off the platform.
- An offer to provide a quote rather than complete the task.
What if I can’t update or submit my offer?
First, check whether the task is still unassigned and whether you’re seeing a moderation warning or a technical error.
For technical troubleshooting, see Having trouble making an offer on Airtasker?.
What should I watch out for when making an offer?
Stay alert to suspicious tasks or requests, including requests for sensitive personal information or payment arrangements outside Airtasker.
If something doesn’t seem right, read our guide to spotting suspicious tasks and activities before proceeding.
How can I see my open offers?
Go to My Tasks → Pending Offers to view offers you’ve made on open tasks. Offers will no longer appear there once the task has expired, been assigned or been cancelled.
What happens when my offer is accepted?
The task is assigned to you, and private messaging becomes available so you can confirm the finer details with the Customer. The task payment is held securely through Airtasker pay while the task is ongoing.
