How do I cancel a task?

Sometimes things don’t go as expected, and you may need to cancel a task.

Before canceling, we encourage you to consider whether there’s another way to get the task completed. Depending on the situation, you could agree on a different date, adjust the task price, or discuss the issue with your Tasker through private messages.

If the task can’t go ahead or your Tasker isn’t responding, you can submit a cancellation request using the steps below.

Can I cancel an offer I’ve already accepted?

Yes. Once you accept an offer, the task is assigned to that Tasker. To cancel that acceptance, follow the cancellation steps below.

1. Log in to your Airtasker account and open the task.
2. Select More options → Cancel task.
3. Follow the prompts and choose the reason that accurately describes what happened.
4. Complete the required information and submit your request.

What if my Tasker isn’t responding?

You can submit a cancellation request yourself using the steps above. You don’t need to wait for the Tasker to submit one.

Choose the cancellation reason that best reflects the situation and explain your attempts to contact them.

Is my task canceled immediately?

Submitting a request does not mean the task is immediately canceled. Check your task status and notifications for updates or any action required.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee?

A cancellation fee may apply. Responsibility for the cancellation is assessed using the cancellation reason and circumstances, so make sure the information you provide is accurate.

Have an Airtasker membership? Membership does not waive Cancellation Fees. If you’re held responsible for canceling an assigned task, you’ll be charged an amount equal to the Connection Fee that would have applied without membership, based on the task price.

Can I choose another Tasker afterward?

Once your task is canceled, you can repost it, receive new offers, and choose another Tasker. Canceling does not automatically assign the work to someone else.
