Helpful hints for new members

We want all of our valuable community members to have the best possible experiences on Airtasker. To set you up for success every step of the way, we’ve created this set of helpful hints for new members.

Check them out below and get the most out of the marketplace from day one.

Fill out all your information
Having a detailed profile builds trust between members, meaning a greater chance of your task getting offers. You’ll also need to fill out some internal information (like your payment method) before you can assign your task. Be assured that this information is secure and not publicly accessible anywhere.

Make a detailed task description
Always provide all the details when posting your task such as price, description and any applicable photos. This is to avoid any confusion for the Taskers and for them to easily provide an estimated amount for the task. For tips on creating a good task description, see here.

Use the comments section
Asking questions of potential Taskers is easy via the comments, and helps you clarify some details to avoid misunderstandings. We recommend asking questions before you assign, to make sure you and the Tasker are on the same page.

Be aware of the Community Guidelines
You’ve agreed to these guidelines by creating an account with Airtasker, so it’s important you understand how they can affect you. The guidelines will help you with the dos and don’ts of task posting, what types of offers we support, and what type of comments you can make.

Not sure what amount your task is worth? We have a handy price guide you can use as a starting point. You can also ask the community to help you when you post your task.

Think about who you assign
We’ve created a marketplace to help you choose the best Tasker for your situation. There are a number of tools for you to use in your decision. We encourage you to keep an eye out for a high completion rate and good reviews. For more tips on assigning a Tasker, see our article here.

Build a detailed profile
Your profile is a representation of who you are. Having a genuine and descriptive profile builds trust between members, meaning a higher chance of Posters wanting to assign you. It’s a good idea to have a bio, a profile picture that shows your face, badges, and a portfolio. Check out our full article here for more information on how to create a good profile.

Set up task alerts
A task alert is a notification about a recently posted task you may be interested in doing. By setting up and optimising your task alerts, you can easily view tasks that are within your interest and skillset and place an offer right away. For more information on how to do this, click here.

Fill out your information
You can only begin to make offers once you’ve filled out certain information in your profile, like your bank details, mobile number and billing address. Make sure this information is accurate so you can promptly receive payment when you complete tasks! Be assured that all this information is secure and not publicly accessible anywhere.

Think about your offer
Look closely at all of the information on a task to make sure that you can do it. Check the description, date, price, location and any attachments. Once checked and you're confident that you can fulfil the task, go place an offer! For tips on how to make a good offer, see our article here. You should also be aware of what to look for when you make an offer, as explained in this article.

Don’t forget to request payment
Once you’ve completed a task, you need to request payment. If you don’t request payment, the Poster can’t release it to you.
