What should I do if someone isn't responding to my messages?

Unfortunately, sometimes these things happen - but we’re here to help!
 
If your Tasker doesn't show up or they're not responding to your messages, we recommend that you give them at least 24-48 hours to get back to you. If they’re still unresponsive let them know via Airtasker private messaging that you’ll be cancelling the task.
 
To cancel the task:
  1. Go to My Tasks
  2. Select the task and select More Options > Cancel Task

You will then be prompted through the task cancellation process. Once the cancellation is successful the payment may be returned as Airtasker Credit by the end of the next business day. This way you can re-post the task quickly without needing to wait for a refund.

To re-post the task you can go to the task page and select More Options > Post a similar task. Remember to change any details that may have changed (such as the due date and location).
 
If you don't need the task done urgently and would like the payment returned to your account instead, please let us know by responding to the cancellation email or contact us with the task URL.
 
At times, some issues may arise on the Poster's side, which may cause a delay in their responses, or for them to become unresponsive altogether.
 
If you’re willing to continue with the task, you can send them a private message and give them some time to respond - we recommend waiting 24-48 hours for them to get back to you. If you're unable to wait any longer or you don't want to continue with the task, you can submit a cancellation request. To do this:
  1. Go to My Tasks
  2. Select the task and select More Options > Cancel Task

You will then be prompted through the task cancellation process.

To ensure that the cancellation is attributed correctly and doesn't effect your completion rate, make sure you choose a reason for task cancellation with a detailed explanation.
