Whether you use Airtasker to find customers for your side hustle or as your main source of income, listings are a new and exciting way for you to promote your unique skills and services for free to our 4 million strong Airtasker community.
Your listings are like your online billboard - always on and working for you while you sleep to build trust, credibility and get customers lining up to buy.
And there is a big difference between a good listing and an awesome listing.
We’ve put together 5 top tips to help your listing hit that all important ‘awesome’ status. This is your guide to creating a listing that will really get customers talking.
1) Give your listing title some pizzazz ✨
The title of your listing is the first thing to appear in search results. It’s what helps customers understand your service at a glance, and it’s your chance to hook them in. Give it some love!
Be concise
Customers have a very short attention span - keep it short and use the valuable seconds you have to communicate what you are selling to make an impression.
Accurately describe the service you provide
Customers are more likely to click on your listing if they understand what you are selling, so be clear.
Make it compelling
Just because it’s only a few words, it doesn’t mean you can’t be creative. The more unique your listing is, the more it will stand out. Use this space to capture customer attention.
2) Use relevant, high quality photos 📸
Humans are visual creatures - we process information in images much quicker than we do text, and we use this information to make judgements on what to buy.
For your main image
Think of your main image as the window of your shop. The eye candy. Capture attention by choosing a high quality photo that nicely reflects your service and is consistent with your listing title.
See some examples of high quality images other Taskers have used for their listings here. You could use a high quality photo from your previous work on a job, or if you don't have anything on hand, there are some excellent free stock photo websites that allow you to download and use their images for free! Some of our favourites are Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, StockSnap and Reshot.
For your gallery images
Your gallery images are your chance to showcase previous work. Before and afters, images from your portfolio or simply pictures of work you are particularly proud of are perfect here.
3) Use your listing description wisely 🦉
Your listing description is a brief overview of your service. It’s your space to tell customers why they’d be crazy not to buy.
Introduce yourself!
Put a name to a face and bring a little ‘human’ to your listing.
Share your experience
Build trust by highlighting your knowledge, expertise and experience in your industry, and including any qualifications or accreditations you have.
Articulate what makes you unique
Do you include extras, free of charge? Do you provide top notch customer service? Have you invested in the latest equipment or gadgets? Stand out and get more bookings by highlighting your unique selling points.
4) Be savvy with your pricing 💰
When choosing a Tasker, customers look primarily for value for money. This definitely doesn’t mean your services should be cheap, but it does mean that your pricing should reflect your promise.
Put yourself in the shoes of your best customers
What do they like to buy? How much do they like to pay? Create packages that make sense and that customers will want to purchase.
Understand the market
Are there others out there providing a similar service? Get your head around the going rate and price your services accordingly. If your service is rare, good on you! Customers will pay a premium for services that are unique or hard to find.
Price competitively
Great pricing stands out. We recommend that you start with competitive pricing to attract early customers, and increase it once you have some listing bookings under your belt.
5) Look for ways to improve your listings! 🛠
Airtasker is an open marketplace - it’s constantly evolving and as new members join, new opportunities to earn open up. If you’re looking to increase your earnings, treat your listings as living, breathing beings. As you learn what customers like, look for ways to optimise them and make them really stand out!
