What is a private offer and how does it help me?
A private offer is a proposal for work, or a quote, that you create for an individual customer. The offer is bespoke to that customer and should reflect their specific task needs. Private offers cannot be seen or found by other customers or Taskers on Airtasker.
You need to send an offer to be assigned to a task by the customer. Getting assigned through Airtasker ensures you get paid, offers you insurance and support, and gets you collecting those valuable 5-star customer reviews!
How do I send a private offer?
To send a private offer, head to the Private Messages section of Airtasker, open the chat with the customer you’d like to send an offer to and hit ‘Send an offer’. We recommend that you engage the customer in conversation before sending an offer.
Who can I send a private offer to?
Private offers can be sent to customers you have worked with before and are in conversation with in the Private Messages section of Airtasker.
You can also send private offers to customers that have sent you an enquiry on your listing. Send an offer to finalise and lock in the task so we can ensure you get paid.
What information is included in a private offer?
Think of a private offer like a contract for work between you and the customer - it should include all the information necessary for you to align with the customer and avoid nasty surprises further down the line!
A private offer contains:
1. A title
Give the private offer a name so it’s easy to find and understand.
Examples:
- ‘2 bedroom house clean’
- ‘1x logo design’.
2. A description
Provide a short summary of the task to be done. Make sure you include any important details you have agreed on.
Examples:
- ‘Cleaning materials to be provided by the customer.’
- ‘Offer includes a 1 week turnaround time and 3x revisions on your logo design.’
3. A price
Add is the price you will charge the customer for your service. The price should reflect the full cost of the work detailed in the description.
4. A location
Select whether the offer is for work to be completed ‘online’ or ‘in-person’. ‘Online’ should be selected only when you’re offering a service that can be delivered digitally, or where you are not required to be in the same location as the customer to complete the work.
5. A due date
Select the date when the task will be carried out, or the due date for the work. It’s important that you agree on this date with the customer before sending the private offer.
Can I cancel or withdraw a private offer?
You can withdraw a private offer as long as the customer has not yet accepted that offer. Once the customer has accepted, a task is created and any changes must be reflected on the task, such as price increases or amendments to the due date. Canceling a task will impact your completion rating, so make sure you can successfully fulfill the work detailed in your private offer before sending it to the customer.
An offer that is withdrawn can no longer be accepted by the customer.
Can I edit a private offer?
Private offers cannot be amended or edited once created and sent to the customer. If you need to make changes to the private offer, withdraw the offer and create a new one.
Are private offers free to create?
Absolutely! Private offers are totally free to create and you can send as many private offers to as many past customers as you like.
Airtasker charges a service fee when the offer is accepted by the customer and the task is assigned to you. If the customer doesn’t accept the offer, you will not be charged. The fee charged varies depending on your tier and whether this is a first time task or a repeat task.
