Customers are charged a small fee known as the Connection Fee when assigning a Tasker. Customers will only be charged once the work has been assigned; this is unrelated to the Tasker Service fee.
Why charge a Connection Fee?
The Connection Fee enables us to invest in new tools and features to carry out our purpose of helping Taskers realise the full value of their skills while also covering the costs of maintaining the platform.
How much is the Connection Fee?
Once the task is assigned, a fee of 15.95% of the total task value (with a minimum fee of AUD 4.90 and a cap of AUD 49.95) is applied, inclusive of GST.

How much is the Connection Fee for Airtasker Members?
With an Airtasker Membership, the Connection Fee is waived on posted tasks.

Where can I view my fee?
You will be shown a breakdown of the fees and the total charge when you assign the task.
- Task price - is the amount offered to you by the Tasker.
- Connection Fee - a fixed amount and does not change after the task is assigned. This also includes tax.

Total charge - the total amount (task price + Connection Fee) that will be taken from your payment method when you click "Securely hold funds". If you have Airtasker credits, this will be used first and the difference will be charged to your credit/debit card.
Note that this is also the page where you can apply your coupons. To do this:
- Click on 'Add Coupon' and enter your Airtasker Coupon code
- Hit 'Apply' to receive your discount.
- The task price will be adjusted accordingly once the coupon is successfully applied.
Will I be charged an additional fee if I change the price or give my Tasker a bonus?
The Connection Fee is fixed to the amount shown to you when it was assigned. This implies that you will not be charged extra if you change the task price or give your Tasker a bonus.
What happens if I cancel the task?
After you've cancelled the task, your payment may be returned to you as Airtasker credit or returned to your payment method. When you receive it as Airtasker credits, you can use it immediately for your next task and, upon request, have the money returned to your originating payment method. While logged into your account, you can check your credits by visiting this link.
Note: If you are deemed responsible for the cancellation of the Task Contract, the Connection Fee will be retained by Airtasker. See the Cancellation policy for reference.
If you hold an active Airtasker Membership and the Connection Fee on your Task Price was waived ( $0), the Cancellation Fee will be calculated as equal to what the Connection Fee would have been, had the Poster not had an active Airtasker Membership. Can I get a tax receipt for the Connection Fee?
To get a tax receipt for just the Connection Fee component of your payment, follow the steps below:
- Log in to Airtasker.com
- Select my tasks
- Click on the relevant task
- Click More options
