Your wellbeing is important to us, so we’ve put together this list of things to look out for if you’ve got an inkling something's might not be quite right.
This list will give you some advice on what you can do in each situation, but please remember that if you ever feel uncomfortable on the platform, you should let us know. Your concerns will be taken seriously and handled with confidentiality. If at any time you feel in danger, call your local emergency line.
What you’ll find here:
- Someone is acting suspiciously on my task
- Something seems too good to be true
- I’ve been offered a better deal to cancel on Airtasker
- Something has gone missing during my task
If someone’s behaviour is making you feel uncomfortable on Airtasker, we would advise you to cease communication and remove yourself from the situation. Let us know about what’s happened as soon as possible - our specialised Trust and Safety team can support you.
Remember if you ever feel in danger or find yourself in an emergency, call your local emergency line.
Often if something seems unbelievably good, it’s likely it’s bad. Be wary of extremely low offers that claim to include many services or those that mention further discussion off-platform (these things are both against the Community Guidelines). Ask questions in the comments section before you assign anyone, particularly to clarify grey areas or to confirm the exact specifics of an offer.
If you’re still suspicious about something, please let us know so we can investigate.
Some Taskers may tell you that they can offer you a better price for cash if you cancel the task. A Tasker may say this is to get around the variable service fee that Airtasker charges, which you can read about here.
A fee is charged so Airtasker can offer services that protect Posters and Taskers. The fee allows us to provide a secure platform and payment system, Insurance, dispute resolution and a support team. If a task is cancelled, it will not be eligible for any of these services that are exceptionally valuable if something goes wrong.
We strongly advise keeping the task and payment on Airtasker. If someone does offer you a deal to cancel, you can politely decline, and say you would rather stay on Airtasker. If you feel uncomfortable at any time during this type of conversation, reach out to us and we can assist.
If you can’t find something after your task is completed, reach out to let us know and we can investigate. We will be able to advise of some possible options for action, depending on the situation. You may also choose to make a police report about the missing item.
