APPLY FOR THE POLICE CHECK BADGE
By getting a Police Check Badge, you will stand out when making offers on tasks and you are more likely to be assigned tasks.
What does a Police Check Badge application involve?
The application will involve an ACIC Police Check, processed by our verifications provider, who will report on whether you have any Disclosable Court Outcomes on your record.
What criteria do I need to meet to receive a Police Check Badge once I apply?
You will receive a Police Check Badge if:
- You do not have a Disclosable Court Outcome (i.e. you have a clean police history check) as notified to us by our verifications provider; AND
- Your name and date of birth details on Airtasker match those provided for the police check.
If your Airtasker account details do not match those returned by the verification provider, we'll let you know via email to update your account details. In the case that you do have a Disclosable Court Outcome (i.e. you do not have a clean police history check), the verifications provider will contact you directly to let you know. Airtasker will not be made aware of the result, and we will not display the badge on your profile.
What is a Disclosable Court Outcome?
A Disclosable Court Outcome means that, following an Australian police history check, an individual has a record on their police history, which can be released to the organisation that requested the check. Disclosable Court Outcomes may include:
- court convictions, including penalties and sentences;
- findings of guilt with no conviction;
- court appearances
- good behaviour bonds or other court orders;
- matters awaiting court hearing;
- traffic offences.
Is there a Police Check Badge application fee?
There is a $39 non-refundable application fee for new and renewed Police Check Badge applications.
How long can a Police Check Badge be displayed?
A Police Check Badge can only be displayed on your profile for a maximum of 12 months. The last date that the Police Check was verified is displayed on your profile alongside the badge. After 12 months, to continue displaying the badge, we'll help arrange another Police Check application for you.
What if I already have my own Police Check?
At this stage, we are unable to accept any police checks other than those completed as part of our Police Check Badge process. When you receive a police check through our process, the certificate you receive will show the reason as being for Airtasker. This means the check meets certain criteria, organised through our verification provider, that we cannot apply to checks obtained for other reasons.
I have registered my interest but haven't received any follow-up information
If you re-register your interest here, a new email will be sent to you. If you do not receive an email, contact us for further help.
When will I receive my Police Check Badge?
Our verifications provider will send you a digital copy of your own certificate for you to keep. At the same time, Airtasker will also be notified of the result so long as you have no disclosable court outcomes. There is no need to send a copy of your certificate to us. Once Airtasker is notified of the result directly from our verifications provider, the Police Check Badge will be added to your profile and our team will get in touch to let you know.
Important Notes:
Once a Police Check Badge is added to your profile, you will no longer be able to edit your name and date of birth details.
Airtasker reserves the right to amend or remove the Police Check Badge from a member's profile at any time.
Please note that the accuracy and quality of this National Police History Check depend on accurate identification of the Applicant (including aliases), the information provided in the application form and the comprehensiveness of police records.
While every care has been taken by the verification provider as an accredited ACIC agency to process a National Police Check (NPC), an NPC does not purport to be a complete and comprehensive search of all Australian police records. Its accuracy and coverage are contingent upon accurate identification of the Applicant and the quality of police records. Reasons for Police History Information being excluded from the report include the operation of laws that prevent disclosure of certain Police History Information, or that the Applicant’s record is not identified by the search process across the Police History Information holdings.
A Police Check is different to a Working with Children/ Vulnerable People Check. These types of checks need to be obtained directly by the individual where required.
